Participation of Our Students in Volunteering Service for the

21th APEC SME Ministerial Meeting

From September 1 to 5, 2014, the 21th APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Small and Medium Enterprise Ministerial Meeting was held in Nanjing, representing another high-level meeting host by Jiangsu province after the Youth Olympic Games.

Upon selection, 18 students from the College of International Languages and Cultures have participated in the meeting for volunteer service, mainly in the Lukou Airport, Nanjing South Railway Station as assistants. Their responsibilities, in specific, involve VIP reception and farewell and customer consulting service. Students who were with a good command of English and good comprehensive quality were appreciated by the foreign guests and the organizers.

All along, volunteer service has been an crucial educational method of our College of International Languages and Cultures. By providing more fields for our students to exert practices and encouraging them to step out of campus, we intends to help them to prove and improve their professional level as well as comprehensive competence.
