The study of language and literature can deepens people’s self-understanding, enrich the broad diversity of human viewpoints and cultures, hone writing and thinking skills and intensify the appreciation of the arts of literature and writing. It disciplines the mind by teaching skills in critical thinking, research, and communication, which are highly valued in a wide variety of careers.

The Department of English, affiliated with the College of International Languages and Cultures, offers the bachelor’s degree for students who are major or minor in English, and the Master of Arts degree in literature.
