The 2017 "FLTRP Cup" English Writing Contest for Jiangsu

The 2017 “FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest was held in Nanjing Forestry University on Oct. 21st. A total of 212 students from 72 universities of Jiangsu province have participated in itincluding some students from HHU. Tang Wenfei took the first place in the contest, with Song Chuting, Chen Shuyun and Xie Shuting winning the third prize, and Ji Yan along with Cao Yuxing winning the prize for excellence.

The “FLTRP Cup” English Writing Contest is a nonprofit event for college students nationwide, which is co-sponsored by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, the National Foreign Language Teaching Advisory Committee, and the National English Major Teaching Advisory Committee under the Ministry of Education. This event consisted of three sessions: campus preliminaries, provincial semi-final and national final. 

There were altogether 1,500 students participating in the preliminaries. Online contest was firstly held on Xikang campus of HHU on the morning of Oct. 13rd for about 1,290 students, among which 36 students qualified for the offline contest hosted on Jiangning campus on the evening of Oct. 17th. Song Chuting and Xie Shuting from this college together with Chen Shuyun from College of Energy and Electrical Engineering won the special prize in the preliminary and would take part in the provincial contest on behalf of HHU.

A total of 198 students attended the preliminary held on Changzhou campus by writing a 500-word argumentative essay in 60 minutes on Oct. 18th. Tang Wenfei and Cao Yuxin from College of Internet of Things, along with Ji Yan from College of Business Administration got the special prize and then participated in the provincial contest on behalf of Changzhou campus, HHU.

On the provincial level, there will be 21 students to win the first prize in the 2017 "FLTRP Cup" English Writing Contest, 32 students to win the second prize and 74 students to access the third prize respectively. (Reported by Chu Chenxue and Cao Yilin)
