The Translation & Interpreting competition for HHU postgraduates’ 2017, composed of stages like publicity before the event, competitions and awarding ceremony, successfully ended on Oct. 21st. Sponsored by Graduate School of HHU, Office of Graduate Student Affairs and CYL Committee of HHU, this event was hosted by this college.
The competition was divided into translation and interpreting, which cannot be signed up at a time because they were held simultaneously. There were four test rooms for translation while one room for interpreting. The latter needed all the contestants to have their voices recorded using the facilities.
It turned out that Chen Yuying and Li Jingyi won the first prize in translation while Hu Kaiwei and Xie Wei took the first place in interpreting, all of whom will take part in the Translation & Interpreting Competition for postgraduates of Jiangsu Province on behalf of HHU.
Nearly 200 postgraduates (including PhD candidates) from ten more colleges participated in the competition. It has not only provided a platform for postgraduates to boost their English-learning enthusiasm, but also enhanced their translation skills. (Reported by Zhao Qingqing)
