An English Drama Competition was held on Jiangning campus of Hohai University in June 2014 . Given its importance, Mr. Wang Yancan, the Committee Secretary, and Ms Zhu Zhimei, the Deputy Secretary of the college party committee observed the event as guests. The judges are professors such as Mr. Zhou Jiachen, Miss Wu Fengqing and Miss Chu Shaojing.  

     There were altogether 82 students from 9 colleges to participate in the competition, in which they were required to write the English scripts on their own. Some of the stories were inspired by plays and novels known at home and abroad while some were set in their daily life. The self-directed performance on the stage deeply impressed those present not only because they all spoke fluent English but also because they put their heart into their show. The event ended up with 1 first-prize, 2 second- prize and 3 third-prize,.

     As one project of the “Hello, world!” Campaign meant to build a Campus English Culture brand, this competition aimed at boosting students’ English-learning enthusiasm.
