At our invitation, Professor Li Zhanzi of PLA University of International Relations delivered an academic speech titled “Systematic Functional Linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching in the Age of New Media.” in May 2015.

    Prof. Li started by briefing us information about metafunctions of language before dealing with interpersonal functions of language and social semiotics by incorporating her own teaching experience and related researches, sharing her insights as well as her recent teaching experiments on systematic functional linguistics in her classroom.

    At the end of her speech, Prof. Li interacted with the teaching faculty and the students, by answering questions and exchanging views on some new linguistic issues popping up in the so-called New Media.
