College of International Languages and Cultures of HHU started the Second Sino-American Cultural Exchange Week Activities in May 18th. And 7 people, including Gwen Crotts who was the “Jiangsu Friendship Award” winner, were invited to make friendly communications with us.
In the Opening Ceremony, the students showed China’s history, culture and traditional arts to American friends through the colorful programs like calligraphy, guzheng, erhu and traditional Chinese Opera etc. During the activities, the American friends communicated with the students face in face in the ways of keynote lecture, seminar, campus life experience and so on, providing help and guidance for Chinese students’ English learning and improving their cross-cultural understanding abilities as well as their language application abilities.
The Exchange Week Activities were warmly welcomed and it ended successfully. Du Hui, Vice President of the college, and Miss. Gwen Crotts addressed respectively at the closing ceremony. They reviewed the wonderful moments of the first and the second Cultural Exchange Week Activities, and indicated that they would promote the development of Sino-American Cultural Exchange Week Activities.
The activities were greatly supported and helped by the International Cooperation Department and Academic Affairs Office of HHU. The college leaders and the teachers of English showed up at the opening and closing ceremonies, and participated in relevant communication.
