In May 27th, Professor Li Zizhan of PLA University of International Relations was invited to give an academic report for our teachers and students, with the title of Talking About New Development of Systematic Functional Linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching in the context of New Media. The report was hosted by Professor Du Hui, Deputy Director of the College.
Professor Li introduced the language’s metafunctions firstly , and then moved his focus to the language’s interpersonal functions and social semiotics. Combining his own research and teaching experience, he shared his understanding of how to apply Systematic Functional Linguistics into English teaching, which highlighted the theme of integrating research and teaching.
Professor Li communicated with the participants after the conference, and answered the issues of concern. The atmosphere was very active.
The participants benefited a lot from this report for Professor Li Zizhan had explained profound theories in simple language and showed noble manners.
