On September 26th, as one of the annual important academic activity in the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Doctor Sue Nichols and Doctor Phillips Cormack from University of South Australia were invited to deliver an academic report themed “Writing for publication: Seeing the wood and the tree”. This report was presided by the college deputy Du Hui, and a total number of one hundred teachers and students attended this report.
Combining his many years of experience in having papers published on periodicals of different fields, Doctor Phillips Cormack reviews the success of excellent papers and the changes of hot topics in recent years by taking example from the core academic periodicals. He also imparted the approach to channel of paper publishing, selection techniques of thesis topics and scientific operation of academic research, etc.
Doctor Sue Nichols elaborated on how to flexibly grasp thesis structure without the angularity for integrity. Then, he took the example of acquisition of critical feedback and processing method to further explain how to improve and deepen the paper.
In an interactive atmosphere, the two Doctors gave specific answers to the questions posed by attendances in a detailed and lively way. This event has been highly praised by both teachers and students.
