Lecture on the Development of American Feminine Literature

BFSU Professor Jin Li was invited to deliver a speech titled “Development of American Feminine Literature: A Perspective of the Cross-impact of Gender and Race” on the afternoon of Oct. 27th. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Du Hui, Deputy Dean of this college.

Centered around the development of American feminine literature, Prof. Jin Li started by introducing its origin and two peaks. Next, she expounded the feminist movement and the abolition movement, which are closely related to feminine literature, elaborated features and changes of the feminine literature during two waves of the feminist movement, and explained how abolition movement influenced feminist movement. She mainly quoted works of representative writers like Toni Morrison and Harriet Beecher Stowe to introduce the greatest achievements of American feminine literature. Finally, she illustrated the development of American feminine literature since the first half of the 20th century. At the end of the speech, Prof. Du Hui pointed out that the humorous and informative speech provided a cultural feast of American feminine literature for hungry minds. On behalf of this college, Prof. Cai Bin expressed sincere thanks to Prof. Jin Lin and hoped that the teaching faculty and students of the college would benefit a lot from the lecture.

Prof. Jin Li, a former vice president of BFSU, is now chief editor of Foreign Literature and director of BFSU Academic of Foreign Language Studies. Besides, she is a member of CPPCC, the sponsor of foreign language appraisal group of the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council and Vice chairman of CASAL. (Reported by Luo Rongrong)
