“Chinese Corner” was launched on Jiangning Campus on the evening of Oct 20th, 2016. As an event co-hosted every Thursday by this college and HHU International School on thebasis of every other week, it aims to help international freshmen adapt more quickly to their college life.
The theme of this week’s “Chinese Corner” is “Hi HHU From Students Who Have Covered a Long Distance to Hug You”. Each international student present at the party got a Chinese partner through “searching for a friend”, a fun game before an international student representative from Nepal briefed the audience members on his motherland with PowerPoint. Then Chinese volunteers from this college used interesting games to help their international friends learn and distinguish between Chinese pronunciations of pronouns such as “I”, “You”, “She”, and “He” as well as many other daily expressions. By the end of the event, every participant wrote something for his/her partner as a beautiful memory.
The success of the event will be followed by more activities involving language and cultural exchanges, according to the school authority.
